Palliative care at home

Quality care in the comfort of your own home.

Palliative Care

Palliative care, or continuing care, is aimed at patients in the advanced or terminal stages of an incurable and progressive illness. Beyond the notion of care, the concept of palliative care is a multidisciplinary approach that focuses on improving the quality of life of patients and their families by accompanying, preventing and relieving physical, psychological, social or spiritual suffering.

Surrounded by family and friends, with quality care, patients can look forward to the end of their lives in the best possible conditions, at home. Palliative care is provided in a serene atmosphere by a dedicated medical and paramedical team. A second line of experienced carers work together.

The palliative approach puts the patient at the centre and listens to him or her.
It aims to add life to days rather than days to life.

And what about family carers?

In Belgium, in the private sector, all employees have the right to take leave to suspend their employment contract or reduce their benefits in order to provide palliative care to a person at the end of life, suffering from an incurable terminal illness. This person does not have to be a family member. During this break, you can receive a break allowance, paid by the ONEM. Similar entitlements also exist in the public sector.

Our team

Our Les P’tites Fées Bleues — Soins à domicile mobile teams are made up of around fifteen nurses.
Our palliative care team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We work closely with the patient's GP, hospital services and the specialist palliative care support team to provide the best possible care for the patient, not only by offering effective, personalised care (pain management, hygiene care, listening, etc.) but also by supporting the patient's family and friends, particularly at the time of bereavement.

Our care is based on respect for life and consideration of death as a natural step.
